The lack of reading comprehension in response to this essay was honestly a little shocking. That's some shit I expect from the general Facebook commentariat, not this place. People just making shit up out of thin air as though the source material isn't right there. I got my first "kill yourself" comment after sharing it, though, so that was fun! This has got to be everyone's favorite issue to be deliberately obtuse about.
As a public health professional (epidemiology/disease control), I’m just happy someone is actually talking about this somewhere. The research on early female puberty leaves me with a lot of concerns about the schooling system and the social media presence/exposure of kids to adults who wouldn’t be aware. It also seems frustrating to attend school with people who are four years behind you, physically and psychologically. I think the compatibility of girls and boys was already a bit rocky. It seems to only be getting worse as years go on.
These are often the exact same women at different ages. I could look anywhere from 13 to 35, depending on clothes, makeup & other factors, for pretty much the entire time I was 13 to 35! I'm pushing 50 & Facebook thought a picture of my face was of a 14 year old!
Thats a good point. V sauce did a youtube vid on young people looking old and old people looking young. They showed that people don't really look very different from their teens to their 50s and that when your brain categorizes them as young or old its mostly looking for indicators outside of the facial appearance such as clothing
As a survivor of both early childhood trafficking & sexual harassment & assault by adults as a teenager (who looked 25), it absolutely boils my blood to have these things conflated, despite the fact that the former absolutely made me much more susceptible to the latter, as I had taught myself to filter out & ignore all sexual interest I was receiving while maintaining agreeableness. I was also extremely precocious in intellectual matters, but I didn't understand until decades later how utterly confusing all of this was for males because I was simply living in survival mode. The 30-something man who thought I wanted to fuck him absolutely should have known better, but I'm glad he at least stopped & fled when he realized I wasn't eagerly participating. I might have simply gone along with the whole thing because I had learned as a small child that I didn't have any right to say no to such activity; that abuse may have ended before puberty, but I had received no treatment for my trauma because my family preferred to pretend it never happened. Early childhood sexual trauma can also result in impulsive or even compulsive hypersexuality, & these kinds of traumatic disruptions to normal social & sexual awareness/stability in an individual otherwise intelligent beyond her (or his) years, is the primary concern I have. An age gap of 4 to 5 years is probably fine for legal purposes, but what is truly fair can really only be sorted on a case by case basis.
In any case, I'm very happy to see people finally unafraid to say what most of us already know to be true, & I would love to be a part of this conversation as a woman who has experienced BOTH sides of the sexual power dynamic coin. I became a stripper once it became obvious my PTSD was going to interfere with keeping on a consistent schedule & then it was incredibly empowering to be told for the first time ever that no one had any right to touch me no matter what I was- or wasn't- wearing!
Curriculum developers frame it as harm reduction, like giving clean needles to drug users. They argue (with possible evidence) that abstinence-only education fails to prevent teen pregnancies. Disputing that is another issue—my point is they don’t see or market this as ‘sexualizing kids.’
> The twentieth century invention of the “teenager” category to facilitate complex educational structures, and how this has progressively infantilized young adults while deferring traditional life milestones deep into the average person’s twenties
Tbh on some level delayed traditional life milestones is kinda a good thing in some aspect.
Practically only either the Shire tier village or some very special case people can handle early marriage. The Shire don't need to know a lot & don't want to, as long as their life is comfortable and they are treated with basic dignity & non-contempt they will be satisfied.
Besides, you got a lot of "Wife bad" boomer comics that eventually comes from much earlier marriage being the norm.
If anything this is what the chuddier parts of the right eventually want to try to enforce, and last time I check you are so repulsed by this.
Don't get me wrong, I def think adolescence is useful concept, and the way we handled it last century was basically appropriate. It's just that Millennials and especially Zoomers have taken it up to eleven to a level that's become incredibly concerning and seems to involve serious executive functioning deficiencies
1. When I say early marriage I do mean marrying before bachelor's degree fresh grad age or so (before age 25 or so)
2. I think there are 3 unsignificant factor or event behind this trend that goes unmentioned:
- Choice & information paralysis (Too much info & choice -> it's REALLY HARD to take decisive action that aren't seem psychotic, plus if you are not super high IQ it takes longer to access information
- Everyone's being online means everybody's life and neurosis is shared, so people just think nobody is truly an adult who get everything figured out like the 50s dad (and those who do turned out to be Shire Dwellers tier who just rely on life script). However, this force, which obliterates Boomerism, also turns everyone into eternal teenagers because "Well nobody gets everything figured out anyway"
- I think part of the reason why Zoomers embrace sex negative stuff is because of rebellion against "EVERY MEDIA, CONTENT, MOVIE, GAMES EVER ALWAYS have B-tier romance or sex scene even if it has nothing to do with the plot" and people are just sick of it
Although I dunno if this is an effect or a cause. After all you used to be a prominent antisemite out of Jews being too soapboxy & annoying, so
Also:
- One thing I see from Zoomers making falling in love, attracted etc super cringe and low status is basically is the same force as the elementary school tier "girls have cooties" belief + there's also a shame associated with it. Falling in love, attracted etc means you let your guard down and be vulnerable, and that's weakness. This is elementary school tier shit but tbh it's the same force
Early marriage BAD, late marriage with the benefits of life experience GOOD
This is from the perspective of individual happiness though. It might be totally different from the perspective of whats good for society, demographics and eugenics (old sperm is supposed to be pretty dysgenic)
Do you understand that the hormonal process of puberty accounts for only 25% of all brain development that happens in adolescence?
The amygdala is most active in adolescence for females, causing more intense emotional reactions. While the PFC is not fully developed until about age 21 in females-meaning that complex thinking, impulse control, and planning are challenges throughout female teenagehood. On the flip side, the social brain is highly developed which gives ignorant males the idea that adolescent females are grown ups.
THESE ARE FUCKING CHILDREN. Don't twist science to justify your compulsions. Answer this, Adult men discussing the sexuality of teenage females-why does this concern you? Why is this the hill you're willing to die on?
I'm guessing your answer says more about you then you'd hope.
Men's minds are currently considered fully developed at age 26.
I said to card or walk walk away if in any doubt, and that I walked away from a 22-year old who seemed too young for me.
Females tend to mature faster physically and mentally, some look like adults, know it, and take advantage of it.
You can't accept science for the female and deny it for the male. Don't cut science in half to try to make an argument when including both halves is more relevant.
This concerns me because it should concern everyone. Young women tend to overestimate their maturity and get taken advantage of, and sometimes they ruin a young man's life.
The statute of limitations in NY is 17. If anything went sideways, the teens might end up pregnant--a couple did by dating other teens--but the man is going to prison and/or may be marked the rest of his life.
Did you know that the number of years between the victim and the perpetrator is also taken into account? E.g: the seriousness of the consequences vary based on how large the age gap is.
This is because of the different stages of psychosocial development in adolescence. These laws are written to protect the underaged children because they can be easily manipulated into sexual relationships by older humans who have more developed executive functioning skills.
Instead of debating the importance of laws to protect the consent of children, maybe we can encourage people to ask the age of those they want to have sex with before they actually have sex.
I’ve been fooled by teens as far as appearance, but anyone in their 20s or early 30s I no longer feel comfortable with. As a teen, I liked teens who looked like adults or actual women. For men and women who are after prepubescent children, they will lie, but there are psychological tests to confirm a person’s implicit preferences. Unfortunately these tests are typically administered after the fact. It’s a mess, you probably noticed the comments are mangled under that article, and there is disagreement and confusion. For now, all I can say is to card or walk away if in any doubt, and that young men and women should be honest about how old they are. Thank you for the civil conversation, have a good night.
The article this was based on discusses teenage girls in my high school who were taken for granted as adults. Parents assumed they were teachers. A few of them were dating grown men by the time they were 15.
My argument is that the law is there to protect everyone, and like a lot of our laws, is arbitrary. If you ask men and women to wait until they’re 26 and 21 or 22 respectively--and some countries do have laws like this, where the age of consent for women is younger by about 4 years and starts around 18 or older--even if you could get people to wait that long, there’s evidence that forming relationships and having sex are a part of the developmental process, or that if you wait too long, you’ll have trouble forming healthy relationships later in life. Some countries have younger ages of consent, but the laws are more nuanced. For now, we have what we have, depending on which state or country you live in.
“AOC has a lot of potential as a mainstream Democrat politician and will almost certainly be on the Dem ticket at some point over the next few decades”
next few decades? she has 1 decade left to be hot, which is 90% of why anyone cares about her

There has been an influx of libtards since the election for some reason. Or maybe the algo has stopped siloing as much.
I've also noticed that. I've been using that "show less of this kind of post" button a lot lately!

My wife is the opposite end of the spectrum. I met her when she was 24 and she looked 16. Got death stares from everyone all the time

As long as you're both happy, that's all that really matters.
We are happy. I told the anecdote because i find it funny lol

Meanwhile, the real pedophiles, the pederasts get a free pass on corrupting the young
Are you writing this from Ancient Athens? What exactly do you mean by ‘corrupting the young’?
The cross dressers teaching children how to give blow jobs under aegis of the government
This type of sex education and Drag Queen Story Hour are both bad but neither are motivated by pedophilic intentions.
Then what is it that motivated them to sexualize children?
Curriculum developers frame it as harm reduction, like giving clean needles to drug users. They argue (with possible evidence) that abstinence-only education fails to prevent teen pregnancies. Disputing that is another issue—my point is they don’t see or market this as ‘sexualizing kids.’
This is brilliant. Thanks for fearlessly pursuing this.
The opening is unironically my favorite song you’ve produced, it’s relaxing and I actually listen through the whole thing instead of skipping

Most of the evidence I've seen IRL points to
Early marriage BAD, late marriage with the benefits of life experience GOOD

Old sperm is literally 40+ years of age. You'll still have time
I better get to work over the next 18 months

How exactly do they sometimes ruin a young man's life? Can you explain that further so I understand your argument.
