Listened to this one on my flight back, and it may be the timeliest episode to date though if Twitter is a bellwether of right-wing opinion, I fear we may have passed the point of return vis-a-vis the Hindu Question

Yeah. I have been pretty black pilled about it in a lot of ways. Maybe time to give up the idea that many Indians secretly want to become Americans, but just don't know how to; because the evidence seems to point the other way (they just don't care to), especially considering Vivek's recent comment. 😞

Not a lot of people want to become Americans.

Americans want to become others.

That's why we need an Ataturk or at least an expanded version of the "Indian" boarding schools that General Henry Pratt advocated.

The push for the development of 'competitive A.I.' is at the central nexus of why this fomenting agitation will bleed out into contention over the economy, culture, and national identity, and why this particular cabinet appointment is explosive: https://x.com/GabeGuidarini/status/1871622388359766170

Yes, H1B's aren't the super elite talent: that's what O1 visas are for. But this podcast made me reflect on why I feel solidarity with mid fobs anyway. At least historically, they created breathing room for intellectual diversity in the workplace.

The suffocating monoculture of the hall monitor ultimately comes from socialization into American educational institutions. When an IIT Madras graduate 'doesn't understand' that 'racism equals prejudice plus power,' the HR ladies have to give him some leeway. It's just respecting their slowness to assimilate! And that grace leaks out to everyone else.

I was promised a fat white neckbeard, that runs after teenagers on seeking arrangements, instead we get a half-dox that depicts a handsome (no homo) Mischling with a jawline.

Please fix this (more uber eats, blonde hair dye and less exercise).

I really enjoyed this podcast. The best thing I've heard from you. Rajeev is great!

On the Catholic thing, we had a gay guy try to integrate into our Catholic young adult group. One of my best friends even let him be a roommate and try to support him because 90s liberal values (former military, I would describe him as a Joe rogan conservative, total chad that obviously hadn't been a perfect catholic all his life), but the gay guy kept having sex with strangers and doing drugs. He was also into leftist politics and made a nuisance of himself.

He also was good friends with a Filipino girl that lost her virginity to some white loser guy with Asian Fever in the group and both were into leftist politics.

I think there is a lot of tension between "we need to be forgiving and inclusive" and "people with these characteristics turn out this way and cause trouble often."

I don't intend to solve that dilemma in this post.

As to the H1B thing, I think either we need:

1) A 40 year immigration pause.

2) Charge at least $100,000 per year for a H1B visa and require that to go on for twenty years for full citizenship. The money raised from this should go to a payroll tax credit for parents.

The last time we got foreign population % this high we needed a break, and that was when we dealing with Catholic whites which aren't remotely as difficult as people from another continent.

I think this would be best for everyone, including current immigrants. We already got to watch Canada/UK/Australia speed run infinite Pajeets and the cost/benefit ratio wasn't there. If we do it here I think current Indian citizens will be looking back in 5-10 years in a worse situation then now.

Trump called Hispanic immigrants a bunch of criminal trash that ate pets and they voted for him in record numbers. I think even immigrants understand that we need a break.

Dunno if using slurs is best for optics.

But yeah, I'm 100% onboard with ya.

I'd add that we must make English our sole official language (with respect to Indigenous languages and the dialects of Mennonite/Amish German, but regional only), and ban dual citizenship without exception. Maybe even throw in an official religion while we're at it.

Thanks Rajeev!

The thing that stuck out to me in the podcast is institutionalism vs emergent market* dynamics. I think this is the large cultural sticking point that needs to be resolved with Asian immigration, and it's going to take time. You could even say that this was the conflict was writ small between Protestant and Catholic Europe.

*When I say markets I don't just mean money. I mean a feedback loop with social norms as well.

“How do you peel off Indians being so loyal to these central institutions?”

Dude my family has been in America for over 300 years. I don’t have to spent 3 seconds trying to game out how to make you loyal to ME in my NATION. Go the fuck back to India
