How many guests do you need to tell you to get more sleep and pay attention to your health before you heed their advice? Everyone from middle aged ladies to high school aged kids are telling you this Walt.

Honestly I totally get your brain in a vat disinterest in exercise bc I'm the same way. Get a personal trainer. They will make you do it and you don't even have to think about it. They can even come to your place so you don't even need to leave. You only need 3x per week for the first three months and then can drop down to twice a week, it is well worth the investment. This was the only thing that got my ass in shape when I was your age, otherwise I would've turned into forever skinny fat and let me tell you it will start getting much harder to bounce back from and much grosser in just a few years, if you don't do something about it. Personal trainer, I'm telling you. Not bc they have to teach you anything (they don't, it's all simple stuff) but just bc they will show up and make you do it, and you won't otherwise. It's just outsourced self discipline.

I'm simply too contrarian and personally intransigent to ever follow someone's lifestyle advice in any situation ever

tbh someone needs to show up with a full throated argument to stay up even longer and graduate to crystal meth

might just go full crunchy granola mom after that

Get a personal trainer to show up at your place and harass you into doing a few push ups and squats. It's not that bad and makes a big difference. Sometimes they're fun to talk to. In 2015 it seemed like my trainer and me were the only people in the entire world who saw that Trump was probably going to win, and we would just spend the whole session bitching and laughing about that. I also know you don't care about "health" which really I don't either but it is better to just always feel really confident about how you look, so just do it for vanity and any health improvement is a side-effect.

On the "JQ," I don't think anything's changed; it's just that you're seeing a wider spectrum of Jews now. Orthodox Jews have always voted mostly GOP, but most American Jews are secular. Buzzfeed bergs didn't write those articles out of hostility to white gentiles. Rather, they wrote those articles because they thought, "I'm white. We whites need to be called out on our oppression of black people. Therefore, I can get away with calling out white oppression of blacks because I'm white."

You have to distinguish the globalist types (Soros, Chomsky) who hate the nation-state and by extension hate Israel and Zionism from the hardcore Zionists who hate the UN and other globalist bodies.

On Indian immigration to Canada, a lot of them are Sikh. There are proportionally more Sikhs in Canada than in India. Caste doesn't really matter for immigration. That's cope by people who are embarrassed by videos making fun of Desis. Satya Nadella's vaishya, and lots of Indian international students in the US are from other castes. I had a friend whose ancestors were untouchables (converted to Buddhism to abandon the caste system) and whose great grandfather authored part of the Indian constitution; his parents came to the US for grad school. Sikhs and Muslims don't have caste. It doesn't matter from which caste you source Desis; the results will be the same

Bap is kinda correct in that the ancient world did emphasize male beauty much moreso than in the modern world.

The Greeks made idealized images of gods and heroes whether male or female as an aid to the manifestation of divine beings. They, like all pre-modern people, believed the world was alive with supernatural beings and were incapable of objectifying humans as sexual objects. It's why modern women are upset with the "male gaze". Their approach to the world is more like pre-modernists, more atuned to emotional understanding, the way Greek men would have conceptualized reality, i.e., by identifying the various gods as parts of their psyche.

The idea of modernist post-Greek homosexual behaviour would have horrified them.

the greeks did to some extent as a pederast thing but IIRC it actually hurt Caesar to be good looking and fed rumors he was gay

Really cool guest. He'd be great as a once a month guy to check in with just to see what's going on from the perspective of a late core Zoomer. And it's interesting to realize that the image of "Zoomers" we all have in our heads is still of people born in the late 90's to early 2000s. It'll be interesting to see if the mid-2000 born end up with a micro-cohort identity based on being in +/- middle school during Covid, so will have "all" of high school and potentially college in its aftermath.

From a Millennial perspective... way back when before "Millennial" took as the go-to term, another one thrown around was Echo-Boomer (yeah, of course the Boomers would try and re-live their glory days vicariously by branding another generation in their image). But, it does reflect how Boomers and Millennials were both larger generations than the ones around them, so it could contribute to the main character syndrome and marketing working extra hard to try to capture them in their respective primes.

There's also a big divide between elder Millennials, core Millennials, and late Millennials. Talking about "stuff from 20 years ago", just compare The OC with Glee for takes on high school and who was "centered". From Abercrombie kids to Tumblr kids...

Loved the "NEETmaxing" term. Guess I kinda was doing that exact thing during the travel years.

WI also has a pretty impressive knowledge of pop culture. He must follow Film Threat and Nerdrotic.

Finally, yet another vote for hoping Walt's able to get more sleep etc.

"Walt’s disembodied “brain in a vat” mindset and lack of concern for bodily health"

I understand the temptation to think like this, but it really doesn't take all that much working out to both make yourself look quite a bit better and vastly increase your energy reserves. At least so long as you actually push yourself while doing so. Three days a week for about an hour is plenty. Counting on technologies that don't yet exist to save you the need for it, and which we have no idea when they will exist assuming they even can, is just cheating yourself out your best living.
